Trying out multi medium techniques

Hi everyone! I'm back with my first 'multi medium' layout (as promised). I hope you weren't expecting too much. Lol! You must remember, it's my first go at it and I'm not really one for 'mess', if you know what I mean.
I have decided to play along with the November sketch over at Once Upon A Sketch this month. Nadia does the most amazing sketches. Here it is.
My take on this awesome sketch. The photo is of my mum on her wedding day 54 years ago. :)  My journaling says that she is still as beautiful today as back then and such a perfect lady. :)
I started by using a white piece of cardstock and then used mists, templates, Texture Magic and stamps to build my layers.  It's nowhere near as layered as I'd like it to be, but I think I'm happy with the end result. :)
A close up of my title and journaling. The title is a wooden word from Kaisercraft, which I painted using Gesso.

A close up showing more of the textured background.
I would love to hear what you think  and any tips would be appreciated.  I am planning on doing more of this 'messiness' in the future.  Thank you for visiting!
Until next time.

Marelize your page is beautiful. It looks so elegant which suits the photo perfectly. I love the subtle colours and the elements fit together nicely. Well done, you are probably hooked on messiness now ☺.

It looks great Marelize. I so want to do some of this. I have the texture paste just need to find the time to sit down and give it a go.

This is lovely - especially the misting colours you've used with the white texture paste...how on earth did you get that writing so NEAT? Mine always turns out half missing...but I think mine is a molding paste, which is a LOT coarser. This looks much better, I must say:):)

I think you did a great job with this being your first go at using mediums. I started off the same way--slowly. I just slowly worked my way into getting messier & messier...you have to just go for it--you'll love the end results.

Lovely page..love all the pinks and the mediums certainly add a nice touch to the background. Thanks for joining us at OUAS!

What a striking and absolutely beautiful layout Marelize. The colours are so pretty, the background, texture, fussy cut layering.... and of course your Mum looks beautiful.

Gee I'm loving the techniques you are using on your layouts as I am browsing back through your blog. The textured script writing looks amazing, and that clock in the background is stunning! Love everything about this layout :) xo
